A few months ago I reviewed my first color e-reader, the PocketBook Color. And while it was novel to use a tablet that blended all the benefits of e-paper with the universal appeal of color … it was also quite limiting to be locked into a platform that only let me run a handful of preloaded apps (and forced me to sideload most of my books because it didn’t support Amazon Kindle.)
Fortunately for me, you folks are a vocal audience. Littering the comments of that PocketBook video were repeated suggestions to test out a “BOOX”-branded e-reader from a company called Onyx International. As Sacha Segan of PCMag puts it, Onyx “makes E Ink tablets that bridge the gap between Kindles and iPads,” and it does so in this case by blending the newest color E Ink screen on the market … with my very own operating system of choice. This is the Android-powered, E Ink Kaleido Plus-enabled Onyx Boox Nova3 Color: join me for the MrMobile review!

There's a setting under Power where you can have it not turn off the bluetooth and wifi when you put the screen to sleep:
Power > Delay disconnection…
I use this to listen to audio books with the display off
Wow
"There's nothing Remarkable about it." That reminded me about 'Remarkable' which is yet another e-ink writing tablet company.
Thank you! It's so frustrating seeing other reviews with people complaining "videos don't look good, I can't run my games" like, what??? It's a device for reading and writing. If you want games and videos, go get an actual tablet.
Tfw Mr.Mobile more than likely went to my college, because I keep seeing him use pictures from the city it's from, and now he's using pictures from campus.
Edit: He's fucking Monarch Alum let's GO!
oh look at that lag I'd get a smack in the head if my wife knows the price…
Android is a very useful operating system. It works in all the devices
It’s a shame they couldn’t get the warm backlight into it or I would have bought it despite only having Android 10. As it is, it doesn’t really give me enough of an upgrade over the combo of my iPad and current Kindle.
Just make it large enough for comiXology without needing to use panel by panel view. And include plenty of storage. I will pay for it.
more modern than android 10? holy crap is android like windows where they radically change it like once a year now? also my phone is still on 8
WHEN IS TCL spitting out their transflective revival device? That's the one I'm excited for.
I want it, My pocket doesn't

We're slowly but surely getting to a great color e reader. 👏
After this…i´m really hyped about Sony E-Reader.
Yes, e-readers without android OS have limited functionalities, too expensive. But, e-readers with Android OS and have big screens are worth the investment: they become ink tablet.
I am getting Boox Max Lumi, 13.3" android OS e-reader. I will use it to check gmail and do google document editinng
is it compatible with Overdrive ? like the Kobo is ? Thx
It's power efficient until u realize android still drains the battery
An ereader review without showing the reading experience…
I though of a concept like Yota phone and was so proud only to see that it has already failed 😩
"Needlessly complex ribbon of hiroglyphics" I was like come on, it's pretty clear what they are then he pressed the button and it did the exact opposite of what I thought it would xD
only 100 dpi for colour, what a mess.
This might be the future of displays…If they can get it above 60hz
Wasn't there a smartwatch that had an OLED screen over an eInk one? That would make a dope tablet/ebook reader, where you could seamlessly switch between the two depending on the content displayed
